GAROWE, PUNTLAND – The Puntland Parliament has officially voted in favour of a constitutional amendment, according to proceedings that took place today.

In a session that saw the attendance of 35 Members of Parliament, the majority voiced their support for the proposed change, with 34 MPs voting in favour of the amendment. A solitary MP opposed the motion.

This amendment will allow for the transformation of Puntland’s governmental system into a multi-party structure. This change is expected to provide constituents with a more diverse range of choices during elections.

Today’s decision concludes a significant parliamentary discussion regarding the amendment of the Puntland Constitution. It will have substantial implications for the region’s political landscape moving forward
