Somaliland mobilises its troops in Oog and prepares to attack the SSC-Khaatumo forces. The self-proclaimed state has been boosting its presence in Oog in the last few days. Yesterday, several cabinet ministers and the Chief of the Somaliland army visited these troops. They told them to get ready for the coming war to remove the enemy from what Somaliland presents as its territory.
Oog, Sool region, SOMALIA. By Dalmar:
“You are young, and you are strong. You are required to join the army and be prepared. I hope you will contribute a lot to the country and bring success. We hope to hear good news if God wills it,” said the Commander of the Somaliland army, Noor Isma’il Tani.
Somaliland’s Defense Minister, Abdiqani Mahmoud, was also present. He believes Somaliland was invaded while the army protected the Sool region. “We were protecting the Sool region. We wanted only the best for Sool and that they remain part of our country [self-proclaimed Somaliland],” says the Minister, who did not clarify why Somaliland forces indiscriminately shelled civilians in the city of Las Anod if they wanted the best for the region.
“InshaAllah [if God wills it], we will remove the enemy that invaded it,” the Defense Minister continued, without specifying who the enemy that allegedly invaded Sool is. He then called upon all people of Somaliland to “stand by the national army, as the national army sacrifices its life.”
Garhajis discourage further conflict
Abdirisaq Askar, the Chief of the Garhajis Committee, called on Somaliland’s President Muse Bihi to restrain from waging more war. “Muse Bihi, it is not wise to wage another war; let the army stay in Oog.” He also addressed the Dhulbahante people who govern Las Anod. “I say to the Dhulbahante clan, you became victorious and liberated your land. [You should] speak less,” meaning they should restrain from verbally provocating the other side that recently suffered a humiliating defeat and is now demoralised.
