Garowe, Puntland, SOMALIA – President Said Abdullahi Deni unveiled a plan for cultural enrichment across Somalia at the Nugaal Book Fair’s opening. Highlighting the event’s significance, he acknowledged the diverse contributions from local and international writers and scholars. This fair is a testament to the creativity of Somalia’s youth and marks a step forward in various business endeavors, contributing to the country’s unity.

Broadening Cultural Horizons

The President discussed the centralization of cultural events in Mogadishu, proposing a more inclusive approach. He suggested the expansion of these events to other cities such as Baidoa, Kismayo, and Dhuusamareeb. This decentralization aims to promote cultural development and enhance solidarity among Somali regions.

Navigating Constitutional Reforms

Championing Democratic Processes

President Deni called upon Puntland’s populace and political leaders to uphold the one-person, one-vote principle. He emphasized his dedication to conducting elections that genuinely represent the people’s choice, asserting the importance of Puntland’s ability to hold its own credible elections.

Condemning Electoral Violence

Addressing resistance to democratic procedures, President Deni condemned the use of force. He promoted dialogue and peaceful engagement as the correct paths to resolving electoral disputes.

Encouraging Youth Political Involvement

Deni highlighted the youth’s pivotal role in politics, encouraging their active participation. He emphasized their capacity for bringing fresh ideas and their vital role in shaping Somalia’s political future.

Summary

President Deni’s remarks at the Nugaal Book Fair highlighted his commitment to cultural diffusion, democratic values, and youth involvement in shaping a more decentralized and participative Somalia.
