GAROWE, PUNTLAND – Recent developments in Puntland’s parliament have been marred by allegations of orchestrated disruptions and external influence, according to government officials. The sources accuse a traditional leader in Garowe of allegedly coordinating with militias to halt parliamentary proceedings and destabilize the ongoing democratization process.

Reports suggest that the traditional leader announced a false ceasefire, supposedly as part of an elaborate ruse. His alleged agenda was to manipulate the system and insert traditional leaders into the governance process, thereby curtailing the democratization initiative in Puntland.

Adding a further layer to this complicated narrative, allegations are surfacing that the federal government might be involved in this apparent discord. It is being claimed that the federal authorities are indirectly fueling the insurrectionists, seemingly in an attempt to retaliate against the President of Puntland.

Sources have pointed towards an illicit delivery of funds by a high-ranking official within Somalia’s Disaster Management Agency (SODMA), supposedly to bolster the insurgents. However, no concrete evidence supporting these claims has been presented at this time.

Undeterred by these purported disruptions, the Puntland Parliament has affirmed its commitment to proceed with the sessions. The representatives have pledged to not be distracted from their legislative duties or the paramount goal of fostering democratic growth in Puntland.

The recent controversies underscore the complexities Puntland faces in its pursuit of democratic governance. However, it also highlights the tenacity of the Parliament, reflecting the resilience of Puntland’s democratic institutions in the face of adversity
