“In the heart of Dhuusamareeb, stone and iron barriers are strewn, especially along the main city road,” the Minister stated on Facebook (screenshotted above), drawing attention to potential impediments to essential medical access. “It’s imperative to prioritize the well-being of Dhuusamareeb’s residents and to strategically deploy our military forces in areas critical to city security.”
After consultations with government officials, Mr Dore swiftly retracted his comments, emphasizing, “It is not my intention to provide fodder to al-Shabaab or to sow discord.”
But beneath the surface of these retractions lies a growing tension. Reports of frontline breakdowns and potential mutinies among the forces hint at deeper security and trust issues.
