The Hargeisa government has been intensively preparing for war: Somaliland troops have deployed in the Yeyle district, south of Oog. Somaliland forces, in collaboration with tribal militias, have allegedly set up a military base in Buq-Dharkayn village on the outskirts of Yeyle.

Residents have reported a noticeable increase in military activities and preparations within Buq-Dharkayn village, heightening concerns of an imminent conflict.
These developments follow our earlier report, where we highlighted the presence of Somaliland troops in the Oog district. This deployment appeared to signal an impending resurgence of conflict with SSC-Khaatumo forces in the Sool region.
The recent deployment of troops to Yeyle and the establishment of a military base raise significant apprehensions regarding the volatile situation in the Sool and Togdheer regions. As tensions continue escalating, residents live in a state of uncertainty.
Deployment to Oog
On Wednesday, the Somali Digest reported about Somaliland’s mobilization of troops in Oog, where these soldiers have been preparing to attack the SSC-Khaatumo forces. The self-proclaimed state has been boosting its presence in Oog during the last week. On Tuesday, several cabinet ministers and the Chief of the Somaliland army visited these troops. They told them to get ready for the coming war to remove the enemy from what Somaliland calls its territory.
“You are young, and you are strong. You are required to join the army and be prepared. I hope you will contribute a lot to the country and bring success. We hope to hear good news if God wills it,” said the Commander of the Somaliland army, Noor Isma’il Tani.
“InshaAllah [if God wills it], we will remove the enemy that invaded it,” the Defense Minister continued, without specifying who the enemy that allegedly invaded Sool is. He then called upon all people of Somaliland to “stand by the national army, as the national army sacrifices its life.”
